This rice is called Thooyamalli/Thuyamalli Rice, is one of the indigenous rice variety of Tamil Nadu.

During the flowering stage the ear heads look like flowers

It is best for food and In Tamil, ‘thuyamalli’ literally means pure jasmine and is similar to “malliga poo”
